Saturday, September 11 Our truck club is having an out of state truck run to the Historical Construction Equipment Association annual show, September 11, 2010, at the Washington County Fairgrounds, Richmond, Rhode Island. We will meet 6:30 am at the Long Island Antique Power Association Barn on Sound Ave. Riverhead (next to the Hallockville Farm). We must leave the barn by 7:00 am in order to be at the ferry by 7:30 am. The Historical Construction Equipment Association invited our club to bring our trucks for display at their show. We also invite our members who cannot drive their trucks to join us with your daily driver to come and see the show. We take a leisurely drive and the pace is 40 to 45 MPH. This is a three day show and some of our members may go there Friday and come home Sunday. If you have construction equipment that you wish to operate, please contact Dave Burnham, 401-294-9259, or nerockbusters.weebly.com to let him know and get the rules for operators. We have a link to their website on the events page of our website, ATHSLI.com. There is a $5 admission charge for the show. The ferry charges $50 each way for normal size vehicles. Ferry reservations are recommended. Depart Orient 8:00 am. Cross Sound Ferry, Orient, NY to New London, CT, 631-323-2525. The return ferry leaves New London every hour on the hour. I will probably be on the 5:00 or 6:00 pm ferry home. The drive from New London to the fairground in Richmond, RI is about 30 miles. We should arrive at the show by 10:00 am.
